The colloquium on 25 September 2025 was presented by Dr. Peter Asare-Nuamah, University of Bonn and a member of the INTERFACES team. Peter presented on “Participatory Learning Platforms: Lessons for strengthening the upscale of sustainable land management and agricultural innovations in Ghana” and provided insights from the participatory learning platform (PLP) which the project established in Northern Ghana to meet the contextual needs and preferences of diverse actors. Here, stakeholders from various institutional levels (government officials, farmers, chiefs, scientists from INTERFACES, COINS and DecLaRe, civil society and private sector) found a space to discuss and negotiate their needs for social and agricultural development. Using social learning and gender-responsive theory of change as the scientific base, the platform is now an example for sharing knowledge, learning new approaches and thus gaining power to implement innovations.
Statements from PLP members present in the audience illustrated some of the progress made within this community, especially on gender-sensitive approaches both in research and daily lives.
