This current blog, prepared by the Minodu team shares the launch of the GitHub-website, which brings together the technical documentation for the Local Community Network (LCN) developed as part of the Minodu project, as well as materials from the co-design process. The documentation is intended to help make the approaches developed in the project transparently accessible and to enable other initiatives to build, adapt, and further develop similar local and community-based infrastructures.
As part of the Minodu project, a Local Community Network (LCN) was established in collaboration with rural communities in the Kara region (Togo) to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on agricultural climate adaptation. The network provides access to local weather data, agricultural audio recordings, a community forum, and a market application. The solar-powered infrastructure is designed for regions with limited digital infrastructure and operates independently of a continuous power supply.
To support the continued use and further development of the system, a publicly accessible documentation platform was launched: https://minodulcn.github.io/
The GitHub-based website brings together the technical documentation for the Local Community Network (LCN) developed as part of the Minodu project, as well as materials from the co-design process. In addition to background information on the system, the site includes installation guides, parts lists, hardware and Raspberry Pi setups, information on integrating the TeleAgriCulture board, and user and back-office manuals. The platform is supplemented by documentation on the system architecture, API descriptions, and workshop materials.
The documentation is intended to help make the approaches developed in the project transparently accessible and to enable other initiatives to build, adapt, and further develop similar local and community-based infrastructures.
